On a Kuohu Raft to the Shore of Tuohmaa
This shooting the rapids is done on Kuohu raft, which resembles a log raft. The passengers ride the raft standing, and it is steered with bow and aft paddles as well as with an outboard motor. The activity starts by going through safety and steering instructions. Waterproof clothing, wellington boots, safety vests and helmets will be handed out to the participants. The route has been traditionally used for log driving, and steep vertical changes add to the challenge of the ride. The event is action-packed right from the start, launching off by shooting Kukkolankoski rapids. The whole rapids section is shot on Kuohu raft. The length of the ride is about five kilometres and the difference in altitude is almost fourteen metres.
After the rapids, the raft is brought to the shore of Tuohmaa, where transportation
back to the starting area is available. The rapids are shot once on raft. The duration of the event is approximately 90 minutes.
